Vaginal Health “Down There Care”
Did you know less is more with promoting good vaginal health?
There are feminine washes advertised as pH balanced, but many contain ingredients that lead to many people experiencing abnormal vaginal symptoms. This causes you to need to start using the company’s other products such as vaginal itch creams, douches, feminine sprays, feminine deodorants, and feminine powders. Avoiding them all is the safest choice. Many times, they lead to worsening vaginal dryness, vaginal itching, vaginal swelling, and ultimately vaginal infections that require treatment. Choosing mild unscented soap such as plain white bar Dove soap to wash just externally or just wash with water is the best option. You want to avoid using any soap inside the vagina.
Avoid bubble baths and using bath bombs too. Most people tolerate soaking in Epsom salt baths without issues. No anti-bacterial soap use – this kills the good bacteria that creates the balance vaginally.
Vaginal lubricants should be water or silicone based only. It is important to read the ingredients. Again, less is more with ingredients.
Feminine hygiene products such as pads and tampons can be an issue. Using organic cotton non-chlorinated versions are preferrable. Some people are sensitive to chlorine in regular pads and tampons.
It is important to clean sexual toys with mild soap after each use. If participating in anal sex, do not return to vaginal sex until after partner has showered/bathed. Always urinate after intercourse to prevent urinary tract infections.
It is important to wipe your front then the back to prevent transferring bacteria from the anus to the vagina.
-Vaginal Atrophy/Dryness-
If you prefer not to or cannot use vaginal estrogen, it is good to choose a product with hyaluronic acid. Again, less is more with the number of ingredients.
Also, it is important to follow all of the above as well.
